RARE ORIGINAL EXTREMELY UNIQUE ANTIQUE GERMAN (?)  PEDESTAL DRINKING HORN  (AFRICA BRASS TRIM?)  most likely from 1800`s  Please see all photos as part of the description.
I underscore that I do not know the origin of the horn or the metal which appears to be brass in some places and brass on the outside in other places. The metal is very heavy. I have never seen one like it so I cannot describe it perfectly....I just give you my opinion as such. Pls read the description. and see all the wonderful photos and decide for yourself.
It`s probably not historically of importance anyway.....its simply an interesting horn-to say the least.
Shipping will be expensive as the metal is very heavy and the horn is huge.
    Careful packaging and
    fast shipping
by priority mail with tracking and full insurance. If the shipping estimate is too much for your zip code it will be refunded.
The horn measures  a great 32" from top of lid to tip of the horn. The bottom of the heavy stabile stand is about 15" and total height from the floor is about 32-33". Please have a look at the photo taken with the horn on the floor.
We have had a rather extensive drinking horn collection which we started to part with last year.  This antique horn is decorated with a perhaps brass colored metal. The first photos shows the horn on a long buffet, in front of a very large picture, to give you an idea of the size. Quite a conversation piece.
We purchased this and a few other horns from a German man who was a missionary to Africa, and it is therefore not possible for me to say whether it originally was from Germany or Africa. This horn is not dated or engraved, but I believe this horn to be from the time of colonization of Africa.
Germany colonized countries or parts thereof which today are Uganda, Cameroon, Tanzania, Namibia....and South Africa. This is my understanding but I am definitely not a historian nor do I speak German/Austrian. In have lived many years in Africa however.
What I do know is that this horn was purchased at the same time as another dating from 1875 which makes it really old!
I would guess these horns are from the same collector. It`s most interesting and a great conversation piece or addition to a collection. Please have a look art this horn as well as some of the other handsome pieces we have listed.
