Antique Lidded Goblet
Description:
Presented for your consideration is this interesting antique lidded goblet. The German goblet is made of pewter with a removable lid. The pedestal of the goblet has a petal design around the very outer edge of the base with a ribbed pattern around the top. The base of the cup portion has a rib design around it with a wreath design above that and a dot pattern is above the wreath. The front of the goblet shows two guns crossed in front of a target. Around the top of the target it reads "Schutzen Heil" which translates to "Protect You." Around the top edge of the mug is a wavy design. The back of the goblet has engraved wording on it which is all in German. It appears to read "Ehrenpreis gegeb. v. d. Aktienbraverei Lowenbrau, Munchen." This roughly translates to "Honorary Prize. Aktienbrauerei z. Lowenbrau, Munich." Aktienbrauerei zum Lowenbrau was the name that the Lowenbrau Brewery in Munich, Germany was incorporated under in 1872. Unsure as to what kind of prize or trophy this would be for, possibly for a shooting contest or club. The goblet is finished with a lid which easily comes on and off of the base. Top of the lid has an ornate design. The goblet is guaranteed to be antique. This interesting goblet would make a nice addition to any brewery, gun memorabilia or pewter collection!
The lid is bent slightly so that it doesn't sit completely even. No dents, ding or breaks. Free of repairs. Typical light wear from age and use. Overall in VERY GOOD condition. Please refer to the photos for the absolute best details.
Measures 3 1/4" in diameter at the widest point and 9" tall (7 7/8" tall excluding the lid).
